This design is inspired by the Native American Casino Industry here in Florida, as well as Paynes Prairie Preserve State Park, a National Natural Landmark just outside Gainesville in north central Florida. Featuring a Bison design on a beautiful Baja Turquoise coin, the stone is bordered by twisted sterling silver wire & adorned with a die. Set on an 18 inch rolo link chain and secured with a lobster clasp.
*** Far from the Far West, herds of wild horses and bison roam the prairie in this surprisingly diverse preserve south of Gainesville. This bit of wilderness is Paynes Prairie Preserve State Park, a National Natural Landmark encompassing a 21,000-acre savanna in Alachua County, Florida. The wild horses and cattle are descendants of those brought to Florida by the Spanish. Where as, the Bison were introduced to the park shortly after opening in the 19070's. Bison herds had roamed throughout North America even as far south as Florida, during the time of the Conquistadors.***
*** In 1988, the Federal government passed the Indian Gaming Regulatory Act, which legalized any form of gambling in Florida. Florida has seven Indian gaming casinos. Six casinos are owned and operated by the Seminole Tribe of Florida, and one casino is owned and operated by the Miccosukee Tribe of Indians of Florida.***
